RCO Foundations

Program Overview

RCO Foundations introduces Recursive Continuity Ontology as a framework for understanding how distinction, organization, persistence, and transformation emerge across reality. Rather than beginning with isolated objects, RCO begins with continuity: the ongoing propagation of distinction through changing conditions. From this starting point, learners explore how boundaries form, how recursive objects maintain themselves, how systems couple with one another, and how trajectories emerge within fields of possibility. The program introduces core RCO concepts including distinction, recursion, recursive objects, coupling, state-space, degrees of freedom, basins, attractors, continuity fields, Universal Continuity Cycles, Local Continuity Rate, and derived time. Learners examine how apparently stable things can be understood as maintained processes and how transformation occurs when the conditions supporting one continuity trajectory reorganize into another. RCO Foundations also establishes the conceptual language used throughout the broader RCOHub curriculum. Human emotion, Transformation Groups, the T Formula, clinical practice, measurement, and research all build upon the same underlying architecture introduced here. The goal is not simply to provide a new vocabulary. It is to teach learners to see systems differently: to ask what is being maintained, what distinctions define it, what it is coupled to, what constrains its possible states, and what conditions would allow a different trajectory to emerge. By the end of the program, learners will have a foundational model for analyzing recursive systems across human, biological, social, and other scales of organization. Learn how reality organizes itself.
